| Video: Amitabh Jordan - 12-08-09 - Air date Amitabh Jordan - 12-08-09 Air date.Amitabh Jordan was born in a small town in Western NY State (Eden, NY) and had many incarnations before deciding that his clairvoyant ability was his life's work. After studying visual arts at the Massachusetts Institute of Art in the 1970's, he moved to the Berkshires and became the caretaker of a historical home, where he painted and thought and hiked, and very occasionally gave clairvoyant readings to close friends. In 1976 he moved to New York City to paint and do performance art. (During this period he briefly lived at the avant garde arts center Franklin Furnace, which was a much-loved performance space and artists' book archive. He had solo shows at The Kitchen and other galleries and venues. Around this time Ami taught himself to sew and began making outfits for a girlfriend who was a dancer. His clothing was increasingly well-received and in the 1980's he opened a shop in the East Village called L'Age d'Or. Ami's clothes were bought by Bergdorf Goodman and other department stores and boutiques and were featured in Vogue, Paper magazine, and several other publications. (He was known as Michal Jordan at this time; he did not change his name to Amitabh until later). All along he energetically pursued his own meditation practice, and continue to refine his clairvoyant ability through giving readings to friends and friends-of-friends.
